Caries treatment: X-ray-free caries diagnosis

We offer a new service as part of the caries treatment in our practice. From now on, we will examine your teeth with every treatment with the latest technology in caries diagnostics. This modern caries diagnosis technology allows us to diagnose caries very easily, painlessly, gently and much earlier than with other methods – and all without X-rays!

Gentle diagnosis – before we remove caries

The principle is simple: Before we remove caries, we examine the tooth with normal light from the so-called DIAGNOcam. The tooth is used as a light guide and cavity affected areas can then be recognized as dark shadows. An integrated video camera captures the light and transmits it live to the screen, so that you as a patient can see the result – without any X-rays. Thus, the recordings can be repeated as desired

Caries in children’s teeth

With an early diagnosis, caries can be removed painlessly and gently. This allows healthy tooth substance to be retained, which is particularly important for children.

Did you know?

Similar to an iceberg, 90% of caries is hidden beneath the surface. The tooth is destroyed from the inside and often no defect is visible from the outside. Therefore, mechanical examination is not sufficient to diagnose caries at an early stage. The use of the DIAGNOcam is an effective and gentle alternative. In addition, the DIAGNOcam allows us to save diagnostic images of your teeth and to compare the recordings at the next check-up in order to detect changes in time. Thus, any number of images can be taken at any time without X-rays.
